James Edward Haynes, known to all as Ed, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO, on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, having reached the age of seventy-five years, eight months and twenty-four days. Ed was born in Richwoods, MO, on August 26, 1938, son of Glenwood Haynes and Zella Haynes nee turner. On September 29, 1956, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Lorraine Evans and three sons came to bless this union.

Ed is survived by his wife, JoAnn Haynes of St. Clair, MO; by his sons, Mark Haynes and wife, Pam, of Robertsville, MO, Kevin Haynes and wife, Gail, of Eureka, MO, and Glen Haynes and girlfriend, Mary Burgess, of St. Clair; by his sister, Mary Ann Roth of Festus, MO; by his sister-in-law, Henry Ella Haynes of Powell, TN; by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three aunts, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Glenwood Haynes; by his mother, Zella Haynes Broombaugh; by his step-father, Emil Broombaugh; and by his brother, Bobby Haynes.

Ed was a Christian, believing in the Lord as his Savior and on occasion, visited the St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. He was also a member of Easter Lodge 575 A.F. & A.M. of St. Clair. During his working years, Ed was employed as a lineman for Ameren Missouri, retiring after about twenty years of service. He was also a retiree of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1439 of St. Louis, MO. Ed enjoyed many hobbies and interests during his life. Hunting and fishing, especially with his sons, was a favorite pastime. He enjoyed restoring old cars and was a past member of the Route 66 Car Club of St. Clair, MO. Ed was passionate about caring for his lawn, keeping his grass immaculate. In younger years, he had enjoyed flying planes and taking flying lessons. Nothing made Ed happier than the time he spent with his family and each of his children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, just as he did in their hearts.

A devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Father Bob Knight officiating. Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union, MO. Memorials may be made to the St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO or to the St. Clare Catholic Services, St. Clair, MO.
