Emma Ione Peters, known to all as Ione, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Springfield, MO on November 15, 2013, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, ten months and thirty days. Ione was born in Leslie, MO on December 16, 1925, daughter of William Edward Mincemeyer and Della Mae Mincemeyer nee Vieten. On September 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Leonard Walter Peters and two children came to bless this union.

Ione is survived by her son, Michael Peters and wife, Sheila, of Springfield, MO; by her daughter, Cynthia Peters of St. Clair, MO; by two grandchildren, Michelle Peters of Springfield and Whitney Lockhart and husband, Justin, of Springfield; by her brother-in-law, Harold Peters and wife, Marcella, of Washington, MO; by her sister-in-law, Elverna Bargen of St. Charles, MO; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Ione was preceded in death by her parents, William and Della Mincemeyer; by her husband, Leonard Peters; by one brother, Lowell Mincemeyer; and by two sisters, Ruth Breithaupt and Catherine Wildhaber.

Ione was a Christian and very active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Clair, MO for over forty years. She was proud to have been a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Potosi, MO. During her working years Ione was employed as a cook, most notably at Coach’s Restaurant in St. Clair, MO. Ione loved to cook and bake and was happiest when her family was gathered around her table. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed doing embroidery, making beautiful quilt tops. Listening to music was another of her pastimes. What meant most to her was the time spent with family. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart, as she did in theirs. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will live in their hearts forever.

A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
