Obituary
OBITUARY Masie Kathryn Peterson Schloss of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Maryville, IL on November 4, 2011, having reached the age of ninety-six years, three months and sixteen days. Masie was born in Columbia, MO on July 19, 1915, daughter of Charles M. Murry and Addie Sue Murry nee Ketchum. In 1933, she was united in marriage to Morell Peterson and four sons came to bless this union. On August 27, 1976, she was united in marriage to Claude Raymond Schloss and their families were joined as one.

Masie is survived by her sons, Frank Peterson and wife, Rhoda, of York, SC, Michael Peterson and wife, Susan, of Westminster, SC, Stephen Peterson and wife, Vivian, of Warrenton, MO and Patrick Peterson and wife, Carol, of Edwardsville, IL; by one step-son, Ray Schloss and wife, Honna, of Evansville, IN; by one brother, Charles Murry and wife, Darlene, of Moreno Valley, CA; by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Masie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Addie Murry; by her husbands, Morell Peterson and Claude Schloss; and by five sisters, Mildred John, Rose Mary Sassman, Doris Dunn, Phyllis Wilson and Joe Anne Berkel.

Masie was a Christian of the Methodist faith and member of the St. Clair United Methodist Church in St. Clair. She had made caring for her home and family her career in life and she never tired of her job. Her door was always open to the many friends of her sons and they often enjoyed the great treats she made. She was also a talented seamstress and fabulous cook. In more recent years she enjoyed the friends she made as a member of the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed following the Cardinalís Baseball team on television. Nothing made her happier than the time she shared with her children and grandchildren and each held a special place in her heart.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
