OBITUARY

Joseph Wayne Gloriod of Richwoods, MO, departed this life at his home in Richwoods, MO on April 23, 2011 having reached the age of sixty-two years, four months and twenty-six days. Joseph was born in Richwoods on November 28, 1948 son of John Albert Gloriod, Sr. and Catherine Ellen “Katie” Gloriod nee Hayes. As a young man he was united in marriage and three children came to bless this union and he loved her children as his own. On August 17, 1993 he was united in marriage to Debbie Kay DeClue. Joseph is survived by his wife, Debbie Gloriod of Richwoods; by his children, Charles “Eddie” Gloriod and companion, Kimberly Wallace, of Richwoods, Kimberly Combs and fiancé, Steve Villmer, of Richwoods, Joseph W. Gloriod, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Union, MO, Lula Love and husband, Kevin, of Potosi, MO and William “Billy” Spindler of Washington, MO; by his siblings, John A Gloriod of Richwoods, Charles E. Gloriod and wife, Vicky, of Lonedell, MO and Betty Pelton and husband, Norman, of Lonedell; by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great nieces and nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, John, Sr. and Katie Gloriod.

Joseph was a Christian of the Catholic faith and member of St. Stephens Catholic Church in Richwoods. He was a family man at heart and was happiest when he was spending time with his family. Joseph enjoyed the outdoors, spending time fishing and hunting. Working in his yard and gardening were other favorite pastimes. Raising chickens and sharing fresh eggs with his family was another of his hobbies.

A kind, loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair with parish prayer services at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Richwoods with Father Robert Liss officiating. Interment was in St. Stephens Cemetery in Richwoods. Memorials may be made to the family.
