Helen Marie Just of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Clair on August 5, 2020, having reached the age of ninety-two years, four months and eighteen days. Helen was born in Jefferson City, MO, on March 17, 1928, daughter of William Schepker and Cornelia Schepker nee DeLong. On November 8, 1947, she was united in marriage to Raymond John Just and seven children came to bless this union.
Helen is survived by three sons, Rick Just and wife, Melody, of Washington, MO, and Larry Just and Steve Just Sr. and wife, Dixie, both of St. Clair, MO; by three daughters, Diane Obermark and husband, Tom, of St. Clair, Barbara Hillermann and husband, John, of Washington and Donna Brant and husband, Mark, of St. Clair; by one brother, Leroy Schepker and wife, Dorothy, of St. Peters, MO; by two sisters-in-law, Marie Schepker of St. Louis, MO, and Lucille Just of St. Clair; by twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cornelia Schepker; by her husband, Ray Just; by one son, Ronald L. Just; by one daughter-in-law, Helen Just; by six brothers, Lester, Jake, Walter, Benjamin, Bill and Jim Schepker, and by three sisters, Rosaline Garger, Louise Hentges and Dorothy Dulle.
Helen was a devoted Christian and long-time member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Circle 1082 of St. Clair. In past years, she and Ray had been active participants in St. Clare Catholic Services. When her children were young, Helen had made caring for her home and family her first priority. As co-owner of 30-B Oil Company, she was always available to give Ray a helping hand. She was very active with her children and had served as a 4-H leader for sewing and cooking. During those years, she maintained a large garden and preserved the produce she raised. After her children were older, she was employed at Wonder Maid in Washington, MO, retiring after twenty years of service to the company. Helen enjoyed many other hobbies and interests, including crocheting, making quilts, sewing and playing cards with family and friends. Her family was truly her pride and joy and she cherished the time spent with each of them.
A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great, great-great and great-great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 10, 2020, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO, with rosary services at 7:30 PM. Funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at St. Clare Catholic Church with Father Eric Kunz officiating. Interment was in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery, St. Clair, MO.
