OBITUARY

Mabel Clara Obermark of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Clair, MO, on June 2, 2016, having reached the age of ninety-two years, ten months and four days. Mabel was born in Washington, MO, on July 29, 1923, daughter of Fred Meyer and Lydia Meyer nee Bunge. On April 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Alfred Bernard Obermark and two children came to bless this union.

Mabel is survived by her children, Thomas Obermark and wife, Diane, of St. Clair, MO and Linda Ripley of Fort Collins, CO; by five grandchildren, Brad Obermark and wife, Sandra, of Sullivan, MO, Brian Obermark and wife Leah, of St. Clair, Ashley Gibson and husband, Chris, of St. Clair, Lindsey Ripley of Austin, TX and Eleanor Ripley of Fort Collins; by five great-grandchildren, Tyler Obermark of Sullivan, Emma, Ellie and Evan Obermark of St. Clair and Avery Gibson of St. Clair; by two sisters, Mildred Kleekmap and Marion Fleer and husband, Dan, all of Washington, MO; by two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lydia Meyer; by her husband, Alfred Obermark; by one grandson, Ian Ripley; by two brothers, Ray and Harlan Meyer and by one sister, Laura Holt.

Mabel was of the Catholic faith and long time member of the St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. Caring for her home and family was always her priority and she never tired of this job. During her working years, she was employed as a cook at St. Francis Hospital in Washington, MO, retiring after over twenty years of service to the hospital. Mabel was a great cook and she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, especially at the holidays. During her younger years, family camping and fishing trips were always fun outings. Each of Mabel's children and grandchildren were special to her, just as she was to each of them.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, in St. Clair, MO. Funeral mass was held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO, with Father Bob Knight and Father Eric Kunz officiating. Interment was in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Clare Catholic School or to St. Clare Catholic Services.
