Grace Ann Bailey of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at Washington, MO, on February 20, 2016, having reached the age of ninety-three years, six months and eleven days. Grace was born in Pocahontas, AR, on August 9, 1922, daughter of Samuel Ford Cantrell and Lavinna Melinda Ann Cantrell nee Benton, known to all as Annie. On December 31, 1941, she was united in marriage to James Leroy Bailey and seven children came to bless this union.

Grace is survived by four sons, James D. Bailey and wife, Mamie, of Olathe, KS, Stan Bailey and wife, Carolyn, of Gerald, MO, Gregory Bailey and companion, Patty Cronin, of St. Clair and Mark Bailey and wife, Carol, of Quincy, IL; by two daughters, Sharon Wilson and husband, Roy, of St. Clair and Diana Rampani and companion, Carl Sitzes, of Lonedell, MO; by ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces, and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Annie Cantrell; by her husband, James L. Bailey; by her infant son, Jackie Leroy Bailey; by one grandson, Deric Rampani; by one great-grandson, Jordan Halmich; by one brother, Everett Cantrell, and by four sisters, Hazel Sohn, Gladys White, Cora Washburn and Mary Simpson.

Grace was a Christian, believing in Lord as her Savior. She had most recently been visiting Christ Chapel in St. Clair, MO. Grace worked outside the home for many years, beginning during World War II when she worked in a factory making walkie-talkies. She also worked for many years at Kraft Foods in St. Louis, MO. In later years, she worked in the shoe manufacturing industry, including Deb Shoe Company in St. Clair, the Wood Heel Company in Sullivan and Meramec Shoe Company in Sullivan, MO. Although she worked outside of the home, Grace's first priority was caring for her home and family and she never tired of her job. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed working in her yard and garden. She continued to keep her mind sharp by spending her spare time working cross word puzzles. Traveling was another of her pastimes but nothing made her happier than the time she spent surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Many memories and a lot of love have been created that will never be forgotten.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Jay Tilson officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
