Andy was born in Birck, Romania on June 6, 1925, son of Johan Schatz and Katarina Schatz nee Lette. On February 4, 1950, he was united in marriage to Eva Joos and seven children came to bless this union.

Andy is survived by his wife, Eva Schatz of St. Clair, MO; by two sons, Andy Schatz, Jr. and wife, Wanda, of St. Clair and Mike Schatz and wife, Linda, of St. Clair; by four daughters, Eva Kaufmann and husband, Randy, of Marthasville, MO, Rose Pyatt and husband, Rick, of Beaufort, MO, Linda Deaton of Rolla, MO and Lori Fallis and husband, Buddy, of St. Clair; by one sister, Kathy Joos and husband, George, of Algonquin, IL; by twenty-one grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Johan and Katarina Schatz; by one son, Carl Schatz; by one grandson, Chad Anderson and by two brothers, Johan Schatz and Michel Schatz.

Andy was a Christian and member of First Assembly of God Church in St. Clair, MO. During his working career he was employed by Deb Shoe Company in St. Clair until its closing and later worked for Steelweld Corporation in St. Clair, retiring in 1980. Andy and Eva made their journey to the United States on April 13, 1952, having been sponsored by the Roscoe Kramme family, who welcomed them and made them feel like family. When they first arrived in the St. Clair area, they had attended St. John United Church of Christ in St. Clair. They purchased their first farm from the Krammes on Oklahoma School Road. Later they purchased their current farm on Jahn Ford Road. Andy has enjoyed raising cattle, hogs and chickens. He loved farming, baling his hay and growing strawberries, organic vegetables and fruit trees. He had the mind of an inventor, always creating and coming up with new ideas and ways to make his farm chores easier. Andy also enjoyed listening to and watching Billy Graham. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He adored his wife and loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. The love they shared and many memories they created will never be forgotten.

A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
