Nora Marie Huff, known to most as Marie, of St. Clair, MO, formerly Lonedell, MO, departed this life in St. Clair on December 12, 2014, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, three months and twelve days. Marie was born in Canaan, MO, on August 30, 1927, daughter of Roy Edwin Smith, Sr. and Mary Catherine Smith nee Bass. On February 25, 1945, she was united in marriage to William Jacob Huff, known to all as Bill, and four children came to bless this union.

Marie is survived by three children, Jacqueline Belker of Denver, CO, Roberta Montes and husband, Juan, of Pueblo, CO and David Huff and wife, Michele, of High Ridge, MO; by one brother, Roy E. Smith, Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Lonedell, MO; by eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other, relatives and many friends.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy, Sr. and Mary Smith; by her husband, Bill Huff; by one daughter, Shirley Williams Betterton; by one granddaughter, Wendy Whitsell; by one brother, Raymond Smith; and by two sisters, Annabelle Schrock and Helen Kerns.

Marie was a Christian of the Southern Baptist faith. As a young woman, she had attended Prospect Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. She had made caring for her home and family her career in life, but when Bill decided to go into business for himself, she was there for him. For twelve years she was the bookkeeper and co-owner of Bill Huff Well Drilling, Inc. During her younger years, she had spent time gardening and was a great cook. She was a talented seamstress and the girls always had new dresses that she made when school started. She did a lot of crochet work and made Christening outfits for the grandchildren. Marie had remained an avid reader throughout her life and never lost her love of music. Nothing made her happier than the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 19, 2014, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. John Pursley officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, Washington, MO.
