Cherie Lin Hertel of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Louis, MO, on September 23, 2014, having reached the age of fifty-two years, eight months and twenty-two days. Cherie was born in St. Louis, MO, on January 1, 1962, daughter of Junior Ray Crafton and Mildred Crafton nee Ross. As a young girl she was blessed to have one daughter. In later years, she was united in marriage and blessed to have another daughter.

Cherie is survived by one daughter, Sabrina Hertel and companion, Jeremy Rumage, of St. Clair, MO; by her grand-daughter, Macie Rumage of St. Clair; by two sisters, Mary Chavez and husband, Ernesto, known to all as Ernie, of St. Clair and Paula Pagan and husband, James, of Beaufort, MO; by two half-sisters, Janet K. Crafton of Little Rock, AR and Karen Crafton McKim of Hot Springs, AR; by one half-brother, Michael Crafton and wife, Julie, of Ward, AR; by four nieces, three nephews, three great-nieces, three great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Cherie was preceded in death by her parents, Junior and Mildred Crafton; by her infant daughter, Jennifer Lin Crafton; and by one brother, Jay Crafton.

Cherie was a Christian having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career, she was employed for about three years as the manager for Domino’s Pizza in Union, MO. While living in the St. Ann, MO, area, she was employed for several years in the delicatessen department of the Sav-A-Lot food store in St. Ann. It was in 1996 that Cheri was involved in an automobile accident that changed her life forever. Since that time, she enjoyed listening to music, especially older country tunes. Her daughter had been her pride and joy and while she was able, many happy memories were created. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Jim Watson officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair. Memorials may be made to M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) or The Brain Trauma Foundation.
