OBITUARY

Donna Ray Courtway of Cuba, MO, formerly St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Louis, MO on Sunday, June 15, 2014, having reached the age of sixty-nine years, eight months and three days. Donna was born in Washington, MO, on October 12, 1944, daughter of Floyd Whitworth and Edith Irene Whitworth nee Gault. On April 10, 1965, she was united in marriage to Henry Charles Courtway and three children came to bless this union.

Donna is survived by her sons, David “Scott” Courtway and wife, Robin, of Qulin, MO, and Richard Courtway and wife, Becky, of Cuba, MO; by her daughter, Vicki Eckert of Bourbon, MO; by ten grandchildren, Allen Skaggs of Sullivan, MO, Donald Courtway of Qulin, Jeremy Courtway of Union, MO, Austin and R.J. Bryant of Bourbon, MO, Alecia Allen and husband, Josh, of Sullivan, Judy and Kimberly Eckert of St. James, MO, Kayla Courtway and Zachary Courtway both of Cuba; by four great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Edith Whitworth; by her husband, Henry Courtway; and by her infant sister Wanda Mae Whitworth.

Donna was a Christian of the Baptist faith and believed in the Lord as her Savior and as a young woman had attended Friendship Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. She had attended Baptist Junior College in Conway, AR, where she worked towards earning a business degree. During her working career she was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Union, MO, working there some thirty-seven years, from 1962 until 1999. She also was employed by Dyna-Quip Corporation in St. Clair, MO for some ten years. Donna had a variety of interests throughout her life, including quilting, going to bingo, reading, making candles and watching soap operas on television. She also loved to go camping, fishing, boat riding and going to mud runs. She had a keen sense of humor and loved her pet teacup Chihuahua, Little Bit. What meant most to her though was time spent with her family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever live in the hearts.

A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Haskel Bridgeman officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the family.
