Alice Virginia Banderman of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Clair on December 4, 2013, having reached the age of ninety-six years, nine months and two days. Alice was born in St. Clair on March 2, 1917, daughter of James Patrick Sullivan and Winnie Sullivan nee Bailey. On June 18, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harold Fredrick Banderman and two sons came to bless this union.

Alice is survived by her sons, Duane Banderman and wife, Rebecca, of St. Clair, MO and Kirby Banderman and wife, Kathy, of St. Clair; by six grandchildren, Steven Banderman and wife, Debi, of Ankeny, IA, Mark Banderman and wife, Megan, of Richmond, KY, David Banderman and wife, Valerie, of Austin, TX, Paul Banderman of St. Clair, Kristin Garrett and husband, Anthony, of St. Clair and Kimberly Godat and husband, Dennis, of St. Clair; by thirteen great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, James and Winnie Sullivan; by her husband, Harold Banderman; by her six brothers, Charles, George, Woodrow, Willard, Lawrence and Harry Sullivan; by her two sisters, Carrie Maupin and infant Rose Sullivan.

Alice was a devoted Christian and life long member of First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO, where she was very active in many church activities. During her working career she was employed by International Shoe Company in St. Clair and later at Beasly’s Bouquet in St. Clair. Alice loved to cook, especially cooking for shut-ins, and was known for her baked cookies. She was a kind, sweet lady, always pleasant and willing to help others. What meant most to her was the time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart, as she did in theirs. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever live in their hearts.

A loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Cliff Day officiating. Interment was at Virginia Mines Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO.
