Bernie Sohn of St. Clair, MO departed this life at his home in St. Clair, on June 1, 2013, having reached the age of sixty-nine years, ten months and twenty-eight days. Bernie was born in St. Clair, MO on July 4, 1943, son of Lester Francis Sohn and Edna Juanita Sohn nee Griggs. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have six children. On September 3, 1976, he was united in marriage to Helen Linda Reagan nee Herminghaus, known to all as Penny, and one child came to bless this union and their families were joined as one.

Bernie is survived by his children, Barbara Laberer and husband, David, of Union, MO, Diane Reagan and companion, Davie, of St. Clair, MO, Michelle Sohn and companion, Chris Dierking, of St. Clair, Robby Reagan of Washingotn, MO Christeine Thebeau and husband, Joe, of Union, Jayme Sohn and wife, Eva, of St. Clair, Scott Sohn of Stevens Point, WI, Aaron Reagan and wife, Amanda, of St. Louis, MO, Adam Sohn of Union, Tina Mendenhall and husband, Dan, of Union and Shelley Doyle of Lonedell, MO; by twenty-one grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Edna Sohn; by his wife, Penny Sohn; by his sister, Maxine King; and by one grandson, Larry L. Saling, Jr.

Bernie was a Christian, believing in the Lord as his Savior. As a young man he grew up attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. During his working career he was employed by Clark & Son Well Drilling until 1975, when he started his own business, Bernie Sohn Excavating, which he worked until his retirement. Bernie had a variety of interests throughout his life; including hunting and fishing. He was also passionate about drag racing cars. What meant most to him though was time spent with his family. His children and grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, as he did in theirs. The love they shared and the many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all.

A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Reverends Dickie Hinson and Jim Plymale officiating. Interment was in Horine Cemetery in Richwoods, MO. Memorials may be made to Horine Cemetery.
