OBITUARY

Freeman Dale Nappier, known to most as Fritz, departed this life in Chesterfield, MO on Tuesday, July 3, 2012, having reached the age of eighty-four years, eight months and sixteen days. Fritz was born in Lonedell, MO on October 17, 1927, son of William Thomas Nappier and Lillian Anne Nappier nee Kochs. On April 30, 1960 he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Coala nee Dunham and he loved Norma’s daughter as his own.

Fritz is survived by two grandchildren, Billy Brown of St. Clair, MO and Jessi Stahlman and husband, Jo, of Union, MO; by one great-grandchild, Kyleah Stahlman of Union, MO; by two sisters, Mary Babb of LaGrande, OR and Florence Sullivan of St. Louis, MO; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lillian Nappier; by his wife, Norma Nappier; by his daughter, Judy Brown; and by three brothers, James, Oliver and Albert Nappier.

Fritz was a Christian, being raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as his Savior. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, entering on July 31, 1952 and receiving his honorable discharge on July 16, 1954, after attaining the rank of CPL. Fritz was a retiree of Laborers’ International Union of North America, Local #110 of St. Louis, MO and had been a member and worked as a laborer through the union hall for over fifty years. He had a variety of interests throughout his life including fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved country music and feeding and watching birds and squirrels. Most of all, Fritz cherished his time spent with his family and his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.

A kind and loving grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with the Rev. Glenn Hammond officiating. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
