OBITUARY

Douglas Joseph Prost of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at Washington, MO, on April 1, 2012, having reached the age of fifty-six years, four months and twenty-six days. Douglas was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 6, 1955, son of Earl Joseph Prost and Virginia Rae Prost nee Schirmer. On April 19, 1989, he was united in marriage to Patricia Yvonne Gumpenberger nee Darling and one son was born of this union.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Patricia Prost of Washington, MO; by two sons, Cody Prost of Washington and Daniel Dane of San Antonio, TX; by two step-sons, Shane and Christopher Gumpenberger of Washington; by his parents, Earl and Virginia Prost of St. Clair; by two brothers, Keith Prost of Washington and Robert Prost and wife, Yvonne, of Catawissa, MO; by one sister, Yvonne Moffit and husband, Jerry, of Bethel, MO; by three grandchildren, Domanic Tyler of Krakow, MO, Arianna Gumpenberger of Troy, MO and Samantha Dane of San Antonio, TX; by aunts, uncle, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Douglas was a Christian and had been raised in the Catholic faith. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army, entering March 29, 1974 and receiving his honorable discharge on October 16, 1975. For many years he owned and operated a radiator repair shop. He was passionate about Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Freedom of the Road Riders. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially when his son and brothers went with him. He also enjoyed playing his guitar and loved to play computer games. Above all else, he was happiest when he was with his family and he was happy to lend a helping hand to others.

A kind and loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial mass was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO with Father Bob Knight officiating. Private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Clare Catholic Church. The Prost family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
