OBITUARY

Arnold Lee Lewis, known to most as Lee, departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO on September 7, 2011, having reached the age of seventy-two years, six months and four days. Lee was born in Richwoods, MO on March 3, 1939, son of Charles Ray Lewis and Edith Carrie Lewis nee Cain. Lee was united in marriage to Virginia May Schmidt nee Martin on April 29, 1967 and one child came to bless this union and their families were joined as one.

Lee is survived by his wife, Virginia Lewis of St. Clair, MO; by his children, William Schmidt and wife, Pam, of St. Clair, Dennis Schmidt and wife, Tonya, of St. Clair, Tammy Godefroid and husband, Steve, of St. Clair, Lisa Goodman and life companion, Marvin Cruz, of Spring, TX and Kara Humphrey and husband, John, of Sullivan, MO; by his sister Vira Jennings of St. Louis, MO; by eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edith Lewis; by one son James Schmidt; by one brother Ray Lewis; and by six sisters, Wilma Stevens, Dora Mae Lewis, Mamie Jones, Velma Lewis, Helen Greeley and Wanda Lewis.

Lee was employed by Chrysler Corporation, retiring after eighteen years of service. He was also a retiree of the United Auto Workers Local # 110 of St. Louis. Lee loved to go fishing, especially when his children and grandchildren could go with him. He also loved to watch baseball games on television. Lee had a knack and passion for repairing boat motors and even at one time had a business doing so. Most of all, Lee loved spending time with his family, and each of his children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart. Many precious memories were created and will be treasured forever.

A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union, MO. Memorial may be made to the David C. Pratt Cancer Center. The Lewis family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO
