OBITUARY Kenneth Wayne Meek of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Rochester, MN on July 27, 2011 having reached the age of sixty-four years, eleven months and nine days. Ken was born in St. Louis, MO on August 18, 1946, son of Horace Ivan Meek, known to most as Jim, and Edith Nora Meek nee Nelson. On April 30, 1971 he was united in marriage to Janet Rita Stillman and two children came to bless this union. On January 9, 1993, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Ellan Ortmeyer nee Lauf and their families were joined as one.

Ken is survived by his wife, Marjorie Meek, known to many as Marge, of St. Clair; by his children, Steven Meek and wife, Jami, of Kansas City, MO and Jacki Wood and husband, Gary, of Desoto, MO; by his step-children, Michael Ortmeyer and wife, Michell, of Warrensburg, MO, Mark Ortmeyer and wife, Lorie, of St. Clair and Marian Baker and husband, Danny, of Potosi, MO; by his mother, Edith Meek of St. Clair; by seven grandchildren, Olivia Meek of Kansas City, Miranda and Megan Ortmeyer of Warrensburg, Kyle, Jeremy and Amber Ortmeyer of St. Clair and Patrick Baker of San Antonio, TX; by his mothers-in-law, Hilda Lauf of Jefferson City, MO and Rita Stillman of Kirkwood, MO; by one brother, Richard Meek and wife, Ruth, of Jonesboro, AR; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Horace “Jim” Meek; by his wife, Janet Meek; and by one sister, JoAnn Meek.

Ken was a Christian and past member of the St. Clair United Methodist Church in St. Clair. He was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force, entering March 24, 1965 and receiving his honorable discharge on March 12, 1969. Ken was an active member of the Greater St. Louis Chapter of the Model T Ford Club of America, also a member of the St. Clair Lion’s Club and Gateway Winnie-Itaska Motor Home Club. Ken was well known as the owner and operator of Meek’s Office Supply which he opened in 1988 and maintained until 1997. In 1999 he became the owner of Townsend Automotive in St. Clair which was a company that supplied and restored Model T Fords. This was his passion and he was very talented at restoring Model T cars and trucks. He also loved to do woodworking and make wine. Traveling was a favorite pastime as well and he and Marge had visited many of the States. Above all else, he was happiest when he was spending time with his family and his keen sense of humor and great outlook on life will be missed by many.

A kind and loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair with the Rev. Dr. Phil Turner officiating. Interment with full military honors was held at Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO.
