Kenneth Richard Roller, Sr. of Sullivan, MO, departed this life at his home in Sullivan, surround by the love of his family, on August 28, 2010, having reached the age of seventy-six years, six months and nine days. Kenneth was born in St. Clair, MO on February 19, 1934, son of Henry Clay Roller and Ruth Ellen Roller nee VanLeer. On July 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janet Ann Maness and three children came to bless this union.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Janet Roller of Sullivan; by two sons, Kenneth R. Roller, Jr. and wife, Gail, of Bourbon, MO and Matthew Roller and wife, Leona, of Sullivan; by his daughter, Beth Ann Roller of Sullivan; by four grandchildren, Melody Bailey and husband, Charles, of Union, MO, Amber Roller of Washington, MO, Stephanie Roller of Lonedell, MO and Natalie Schroeder of Sullivan; by his sister, Virginia Snow and husband, Don, of St. Clair; by eight great grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth Roller; by three brothers, Paul York, Sr., Harold “Ody” Roller and Robert Roller; by two sisters, Edna Willis and Doris Shatz Manion.
Kenneth was a Christian and a very active member of Parkway Church of the Nazarene in St. Clair. He was happy to serve on the church board for many years and was always available to lend a helping hand to meet the needs of the church. For the last fifteen years of Ken’s working years, he was employed as a driver and route salesman for Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was also a retiree of Teamsters Local 688 of St. Louis, MO. Ken was a talented musician and loved playing his fiddle. He was an outdoorsman at heart and going hunting and fishing with his family was a favorite pastime. Farming and working around the house were other favorite pastimes. Ken was happiest when surrounded by his family and the love and wonderful memories created with his family were treasured by all the family.
A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Parkway Church of the Nazarene in St. Clair with the Rev. Harold Lumley officiating. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the Parkway Church of the Nazarene or to the C.O.P. D. Foundation. The Roller family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
