Janet Faye Smith of St. Clair, MO departed this life in St. Louis, MO on Thursday, August 5, 2010, having reached the age of sixty years, ten months and ten days. Janet was born in St. Louis on September 26, 1949, daughter of George Leo Rulo and Myrtle Juanita Rulo nee Washburn. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have eight children.

Janet is survived by one son, Glen W. Smith of St. Clair; by five daughters, Robin Bays and husband, Chance, of Eminence, MO, Paula Fritschle and husband, Joe, of Arnold, MO, Kathy Smith of St. Clair, Jamie Gordon and husband, Sam, of Eminence and Crystal Henry and husband, Brad, of Boonville, MO; by her parents, George and Mrytle Rulo of St. Clair; by three brothers, Gerry Rulo of St. Clair, George Rulo and wife, Dora, of St. Clair and Kenneth Rulo of Sullivan, MO; by three sisters, Phyllis Kindrick and husband, Rick, of Covington, TN, Opal Bull and husband, Ronald, of Lonedell and Antoinette “Toni” Gambill and husband, Greg, of St. Clair; by twenty-two grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Janet was preceded in death by her life companion, Roy Hilton; by her son, Gary Smith; and by her daughter, Amy Howdeshell.

Janet was a Christian and had attended Pacific Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church in Pacific, MO. She had worked at various jobs during her life but had most recently been employed as a waitress at Shoney’s in Sullivan, MO. Janet was a people person and enjoyed visiting with acquaintances she made through her work. Her beloved family was the most important part of her life and she was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother, niece, aunt, great and great-great aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at the Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair with the Rev. Thomas Wilkens officiating. Interment was in Piatt Cemetery, Eminence, MO. Memorials may be made to the family.
