OBITUARY

Ronald Larsen Friend of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on November 26, 2020, having reached the age of seventy-four years and thirteen days. Ronald was born in St. Louis, MO, on November 13, 1946, son of Claude Brewer Friend and Catherine Rose Friend nee Mannweiler. On January 30, 1966, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Doyle and five children came to bless this union.

Ronald is survived by his father, Claude Friend and wife, Rose, of Luebbering, MO; by his son, Ronald J. Friend, known to all as Jimmy, of St. Clair, MO; by his daughters, Sheila Powell of St. Clair, Sherry Hodges and husband, Dennis, of Salem, MO, Melissa Butera of Laurinburg, NC and Melinda Bartz, known to all as Mindy, and husband, Toby, of St. Clair; by two brothers, Larry Friend and wife, Diane, of Sullivan, MO and Harry Friend, known to all as Gordon, and wife, Trudy, of Kirkwood, MO; by his sisters, Cathy Wilson and husband, David, of St. Clair and Cindy Hickinbotham of Luebbering; by sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, step-brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Friend; by his wife, Patricia Friend; by one brother, Claude Friend, known to all as Clyde, and by two infant grandchildren, Adam Crews and Cassandra Hodges.

Ronald was a Christian and member of 1st Assembly of God Church in St. Clair. He was a former member of Victory Church in St. Clair. Ronald had a passion for serving the Lord and spreading the word of God. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, entering on February 21, 1966 and receiving his honorable discharge on February 20, 1969, having attained the rank of SGT. He was a member of American Legion Post 347 in St. Clair. During his working career, he was employed by Daimler-Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, MO, retiring after thirty-four years of service to the company. He was retiree of the United Auto Workers, Local 110 of St. Louis, MO. Ronald was an outdoorsman at heart who loved to fish and hunt. He also had a fondness for animals and especially loved the companionship of his pet dogs. What meant most to him was time spent with family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will live on in their hearts forever.

A kind and loving son, step-son, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, step-brother, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Lynn Stroup officiating. Interment with full military honors was in Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair. Memorials may be made to 1st Assembly of God Church in St. Clair.
