Zoa Mae Stroup, known to all as Zoe, of Lonedell, MO, departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love her family, on October 11, 2020, having reached the age of eighty-nine years, five months and twenty-five days. Zoe was born in Sullivan, MO, on April 16, 1931, daughter of Elmer Essman and Charlotte Lacricia Essman nee Jefferies. On August 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Edward Elmer Stroup, known to all as Ed, and four daughters came to bless this union.

Zoe is survived by her daughters, Sherry Pieske and husband, Bill, of Union, MO, Debbie Dumesnil and husband, Chris, of Edmond, OK, Charlene Hammonds of Broken Arrow, OK and Dona Stroup of Lonedell, MO; by five grandchildren, Christina Brinker and husband, Dirck of Union, Nathan Pieske and wife, Kristina, of Union, Steven Woodruff of St. Clair, Dana Hammonds of Portland, OR and Charlotte Dumesnil of Edmond; by three siblings, Alfred Essman, known to many as Downey, of Turner, OR, Beryl Essman and wife, Eunice, of Bourbon, MO, and Clare Fae Woodcock of Sullivan, MO; by seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Zoe was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Charlotte Essman, and by her husband, Ed Stroup.

Zoe was a Christian and past member and past pianist of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. She was also a past member of the Order of Eastern Star, Robertsville MO Chapter. Zoe was a Real Estate Broker and for nearly fifty years, owned and operated Stroup Realtors Real Estate in Lonedell, MO. She was a past member and past secretary of the National Association of Realtors. In addition to running her business, Zoe loved to work in her yard and her garden. She canned much of the produce she raised. She was a talented musician and liked to play the piano and organ. Her daughters were her pride and joy and nothing made her happier than spending time with them and her grandchildren.

A loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services were held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2020, Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union, MO, with the Rev. Dick Hinson officiating.
