Ollie Ray Hooks, known to all as Ray, of Cuba, MO, formerly St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Rolla, MO, on October 11, 2020, having reached the age of eighty-one years, three months and twenty-six days. Ray was born in Campbell, MO, on June 15, 1939, son of Edward Wayne Hooks and Ulus Marie Hooks nee Hicks. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have three children.

Ray is survived by his children, Clinton Hooks and wife, Jeanette, of St. Louis, MO, Gavin Hooks, DVM and wife, Denise, of St. Clair, MO, and Tracy Sanders and husband, Randy, of St. Clair; by one brother, James Hooks and wife, Rae, of Shoreline, WA; by his sisters, Frances East of Lebanon, MO, Faye Cox and husband, Allan, of Lake Village, IN, and Rachel Beaupre of Morocco, IN; by eight grandchildren, Joshua Hooks of Arnold, MO, Brigitte Hooks of St. Louis, Amanda Hatfield and husband, Andrew, of St. Clair, Megan Hooks and boyfriend, Alex, of Union, MO, Sarah Mayberry and husband, Ryan, of Union, Caleb Hooks of St. Clair, Nathan Sanders of Rolla, MO and Kiley Sanders of St. Clair; by three step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, two step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ulus Hooks; by his daughter-in-law, Debra Hooks; by one brother, William Hooks, and by his companion, Marie Stafford.

Ray was a Christian and member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. During his working career, he was employed by Carolina Freight Company in St. Louis, MO, driving for the company for about fifteen years. He was a thirty-year member and retiree of Teamsters Local 600 of St. Louis, MO. He loved working on his farm in St. Clair, which he owned from 1976 to 1995, raising cattle and crops. He also enjoyed gardening and had at one time a two-acre patch of strawberries, which the children remember picking. He then moved to a farm at Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and continued raising cattle, hay and various crops, from 1995-2015. What meant most to him was time spent with his family. The love they shared and many memories they created, will forever be cherished by them all.

A kind and loving, father, father-in-law, grandfather, step-grandfather, great-grandfather, step-great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 16, 2020, at Bethel Baptist Church, Lonedell, MO with the Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Cemetery. The family of Ray Hooks entrusted the care of their loved to Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
