Obituary
OBITUARY

Jason Clarence Isgriggs, Sr. of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Union, MO, on July 22, 2020, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, three months and twenty-two days. Jason was born in Cadet, MO, on March 30, 1941, son of Fred Clarence Isgriggs and Susie Isgriggs nee Richards. On June 5, 1961, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Hults and two children came to bless this union.

Jason is survived by his children, Jason C. Isgriggs, Jr. and wife, Anna, of Union, MO and Shelley Johnmeyer and husband, Chad, of St. Clair; by his grandchildren, Nathan Straatmann and Reese Johnmeyer, both of St. Clair; by two great-grandchildren, Emma and Jason Straatmann of St. Clair; by six brothers, Stanley Coxie and Garland Isgriggs, both of St Clair, Lester Isgriggs and wife, Carolyn, of Bourbon, MO, Bob Isgriggs and wife, Gloria, of St. Clair, Luther Isgriggs and wife, Jackie, and Bill Isgriggs and wife, Jennifer, both of Union; by six sisters, Florence Ziegler of St. Louis, MO, Flossie Birmingham of Union, Ida Fritz of Washington, MO, Goldie DeClue of Pacific, MO, Nancy Nevills and husband, Glen, of Villa Ridge, MO and Bonnie Smith and husband, Lyman, of Pacific; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Susie Isgriggs; by his wife, Patricia Ann Isgriggs, and by one sister, Beulah Herbst.

Jason had lived in the St. Clair area throughout most of his life. During his working years, he was employed as a fork truck operator for Alton Box, later known as Jefferson Smurfit and now known as Activia, in Pacific, MO. Jason’s grandparents were Cherokee Indian and he was very proud of his heritage. Traveling was his passion and he and his family have “worn out” many conversion vans. He loved to visit Indian reservations and many of his trips had no destination in mind when they left the house. Many, many wonderful memories were created on these family outings. Jason was a very spiritual man and worshiped in his own way. In recent years, he enjoyed playing Bingo with his friends, but nothing made him happier than the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

A devoted and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and love him.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2020, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Chad Johnmeyer officiating. Private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Native American Heritage Association.
