Stella Josephine Griemel of St. Clair, MO departed this life in Sullivan, MO on June 7, 2010, having reached the age of eighty-seven years, seven months and thirty days. Stella was born in St. Louis, MO on October 8, 1922, daughter of Stanley Trzaska and Constance Trzaska nee Zawalich. On November 17, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert Glennon Griemel I and five children came to bless this union.
Stella is survived by her husband, Robert G. Griemel I of St. Clair; by three sons, Anthony “Tony” Griemel and wife, Myra, of Arnold, MO, Robert G. Griemel II of Fenton, MO and Michael L. Griemel of Fouke, AR; by two daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Carey of Sullivan, MO and Sandra “Sandy” Kay and husband, Eugene, of Sullivan; by ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Constance Trzaska; by four brothers, Joseph, Stanley and Leo Trzaska and Frank Kochman; and by one grandchild, Jarrett P. Griemel.
Stella was a devoted Christian and member of the St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Clair Circle 1082. During her working years she was employed as an office manager and bookkeeper at Modern Maintenance in St. Louis, MO and more recently, at Humble Neon Signs in Humble, TX. She enjoyed working in her yard, raising flowers and beautifying the patio for family gatherings. She took great pride in caring for her home and was a great laundress. Stella was happiest when spending time with her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a great cook and loved having the family to dinner, always trying new recipes. The love and wonderful memories they have created together will be cherished by all the family.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation was held after 3:00 PM Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair with rosary services at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM Friday, June 11, 2010 at St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair with Father Bob Knight officiating. Interment was in Anaconda Cemetery, St. Clair, MO. In lieu of flowers, masses or memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made.
