OBITUARY

Karen Lee Thurman of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on March 1, 2020, having reached the age of seventy-one years, seven months and sixteen days. Karen was born in St. Louis, MO, on July 15, 1948, daughter of Lloyd Edward Spicer and Virginia Marie Spicer nee Brandhorst. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have three children. On March 12, 1992, she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Thurman, Sr. and one son came to bless this union.

Karen is survived by her husband, Donald L. Thurman, Sr.; by three sons, Douglas Tauchert of Villa Ridge, MO, Jamie Doyen of Brinktown, MO, and Donald L. Thurman, Jr. of St. Clair; by one daughter, Amy Loger of Cleveland, OH; by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters, one sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Virginia Spicer, and by one grandson, Colton Thurman.

Karen was a Christian, believing in the Lord as her Savior. She was a great cook and loved cooking for her family. Collecting antiques and going “antiquing” was a favorite pastime. She had made caring for her home and family her career in life and she never tired of her job.

A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Fern Nye officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO.
