OBITUARY

Doris Marie Dunning of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on January 2, 2020, having reached the age of eighty-nine years, eleven months and four days. Doris was born in Dyersburg, TN, on January 29, 1930, daughter of John Franklin Pruitt and Emma Pruitt nee Howell. As a young woman she was united in marriage to Harvey Gordon and three children came to bless this union. In 1956 she was united in marriage to Elwin Lavern Hunt and three children came to bless this union. In 1998 she was united in marriage to Joseph Dunning.

Doris is survived by three sons, James Gordon and wife, Donna, of Memphis, TN, Charles Hunt of St. Clair, MO and Kevin Hunt and wife, Karen, of Troy, IL; by her daughter, Sally Hulsey and husband, Glenn, of Collinsville, IL; by eighteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Pruitt; by her husbands, Harvey Gordon, Elwin Hunt and Joseph Dunning, and by two sons, Johnny Gordon and Dennis Hunt.

Doris was a Christian and had enjoyed attending Canaan Land Ministries in St. Clair, MO when her health allowed. She dedicated her life to caring for her home and family and never tired of her job. She truly loved cooking and cleaning and taking care of her family. In her younger years she enjoyed going out singing and dancing and listening to music. Doris also collected Indian dolls. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and the many precious memories they created will forever live on in their hearts.

A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A private committal will take place at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. The family of Doris Marie Dunning was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO.
