Obituary
OBITUARY

Virginia Mae Collins of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Sullivan, MO, on August 7, 2019, having reached the age of ninety-seven years, two months and thirty days. Virginia was born in Elliasville, TX, on May 8, 1922, daughter of Franklin Pierce Dalton and Ivalee Dalton nee Elliott. On June 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Arthur Noon Collins and two children came to bless this union. They were proud and blessed to have seventy-nine years together.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Arthur Collins of St. Clair, MO; one daughter, Joyce Haase and husband, Robert, of Lebanon, MO; by six grandchildren, by many great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Ivalee Dalton; by one son, Richard Collins, and by four sisters, Ruth Maddox, Georgia Gossom, Edwina Dalton and Rosemary Tissot.

Virginia was a Christian, having been raised in the Methodist faith. She had made caring for her home and family her career in life and she never tired of her job. She lived an active, busy life as long as her health allowed. She had enjoyed gardening, as well as raising beautiful flowers. She was a great cook and had enjoyed cooking for her family. Quilting and sewing were other favorite pastimes. In later years, when her children were grown, she and Arthur liked to go antiquing. Nothing made her happier than the time spent and stories shared with her children and grandchildren, and each held a special place in her heart.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, aunt, great, great-great and great-great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
