OBITUARY

Sarah Christine Jenkerson, known to most as Chris, of St. Clair, MO departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on June 20, 2019, having reached the age of seventy-three years and twelve days. Chris was born in St. Louis, MO on June 8, 1946, daughter of Raymond DeWeese and Shirley DeWeese nee Kinsey. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have two children. On August 1, 1981 she was united in marriage to William Dale Jenkerson.

Chris is survived by her husband, William Jenkerson, known to most as Dale, of St. Clair, MO; by her son, Robert Wilson, known to most as Bob, of St. Clair; by her daughter, Lori Gratzer and husband, Bill, of St. Clair; by one brother, James Bush and wife, Debbie, of Hershey, PA; by one sister, Linda Huffman of Salt Lake City, UT; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Shirley DeWeese; by one brother, Steve Bush; by one sister, Helen McDonald; and by one grandchild, Derek Crow.

Chris was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she was employed as a secretary for the Missouri State Department of Family Services, serving the system for over twenty years. She had a variety of interests throughout her life including going to yard sales and doing puzzles. Chris had a special affection for dolphins. She also enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley. She loved caring for and organizing her home. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever live in their hearts.

A kind and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Rev. John Hampton, Jr. officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date at Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
