OBITUARY

Myrna Lorriane Mothershead of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on June 13, 2019, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, six months and seven days. Myrna was born in St. Clair on December 6, 1930, daughter of Charles William Mothershead and Dessie Lenora Mothershead nee Coon. On March 6, 1948, she was united in marriage to Walter William Ellison and five daughters came to bless this union.

Myrna is survived by three daughters, Sheila Mahaffy and husband, John, of Ballwin, MO, Jeana Shelton and husband, Mark, of St. Clair, MO, and Billie Jo Messex and life companion, Bryan Hovey, of East Alton, IL; by two sons-in-law, Dave Freise of Topeka, KA and Joseph Bucceri of Indiana; by seven grandchildren, Michael Taylor and wife, Becky, of Poplar Bluff, MO, Jamie Frossard and husband, Kenneth, of St. Clair, Justin Crowe and wife, Heather, of Imperial, MO, Danielle Wadlow and husband, Charles, of St. Clair, and Megan Freise and life companion, J.B. Cunningham, Sarah Barnhart and husband, Jesse, and Jackie Freise, all of Topeka; by fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dessie Mothershead; by two daughters, Brenda Bucceri and Sherry Freise, and by one grandson, Jason Mahaffy.

Myrna was a Christian and member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Lonedell, MO. During her working years, she had been employed in the housekeeping department at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO, for about five years. She had later worked for about five years at Maverick Tube in Union, MO. Myrna’s first priority in life had always been caring for her home and family. After her children were grown, she focused her energy on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as each held a special place in her heart. Myrna always kept busy and enjoyed doing many crafts and hobbies. She was a talented seamstress and made dolls and doll clothes, as well as many other things. Making her own greeting cards, drawing, painting and reading were other hobbies. She also enjoyed making quilts and as a young woman had enjoyed horseback riding. Nothing meant more than the time she spent with her family.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO, with the Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society. The family entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO.
