Bernard Joseph Morgan, Jr., known to all as Joseph, of Sullivan, MO, departed this life at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on January 27, 2019, having reached the age of eighty years, four months and twenty-six days. Joseph was born in Vivian, LA, on September 1, 1938, son of Bernard Joseph Morgan, Sr. and Delila Morgan nee Davenport. On September 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Kathleen May Brockelmeyer and four children came to bless this union.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Kathleen Morgan of Sullivan, MO; by one son, Joe Morgan and wife, Lisa, of Union, MO; by two daughters, Rose Butler and husband, Rick, and Julie Moore and husband, Bill, all of St. Clair, MO; by one brother, George Morgan of Sullivan; by ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Delila Morgan; by one son, David William Morgan; by one sister, Mary Moody, and by two grandchildren, infant Dustin Morgan and Jessica Morgan.
Joseph was a Christian and member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Luebbering, MO. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4667 of St. Clair and had attained the honor of a 4th Degree Knight. Joseph was a truck driver by trade and had retired from Teamsters Local 600 of St. Louis, MO. After his retirement he spent several years driving school buses and had worked for the Union School District and also the St. Clair School District. In recent years he was an active member of the Sullivan Senior Center, calling Bingo each week and collecting cans to generate revenue for the center. He had enjoyed many hobbies and interests during his life and especially enjoyed model trains. He liked to fish, target shoot and spend time outdoors. Bowling was another of his hobbies and going dancing with Kathleen was a favorite pastime. Each of his children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart and many wonderful memories have been created.
A devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with K of C and Rosary services at 7:30 PM. Funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 1, 2019, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Luebbering, MO, with Father Bob Knight officiating. Interment was Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
