OBITUARY

Fern Lee Reed of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Clair on January 23, 2019, having reached the age of ninety years, five months and nine days. Fern was born in St. Clair on August 14, 1928, daughter of Squire Frederick Burnett, known to most as Rev. Fred, and Bertha Mabel Burnett nee Maupin. On February 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to James Raymond Reed, known to all as Skip, and three children came to bless this union.

Fern is survived by her son, Terry Reed and wife, Terrie Lynn, of Pacific, MO; by her daughter, Vicki Goodwin and husband, Rick, of Owensville, MO; by her brother, Ken Burnett and wife, Joan, of St. Clair, MO; by five grandchildren, Nicole Klein and husband, K.C., of Wildwood, MO, Derek Reed and wife, Heather, of Wright City, MO, Tanya Pope and husband, Kevin, of St. Clair, MO, Dustin Reed of Washington, MO and Gerrad Reed and wife, Shae, of Sullivan, MO; by nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Fred and Bertha Burnett; by her husband, Skip Reed; by her son, Gerry Reed; by her step-mother, Ethel Tourville Burnett nee Hopkins, and by her sister, Janet Smith.

Fern was a Christian and lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. She was very active in the church and was the past secretary and treasurer of the Sunday school department. During her working career she was employed at Ray's Sew & Vac in Washington, MO, as a store attendant. Fern enjoyed doing cross stitch and collecting lighthouse memorabilia. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed planting flowers in her garden. Her family was her life and she dearly loved her children and grandchildren. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever live in their hearts.

A loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO with the Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
