Toyea Lynn Rettinghaus of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on December 23, 2018, having reached the age of seventy years, five months and thirteen days. Toyea was born in Rock Island, IL, on July 10, 1948, daughter of Charles Melvin Fisher, Sr. and Catherine Marie Fisher nee Black. On August 31, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert Louis Rettinghaus and three children came to bless this union.

Toyea is survived by her husband, Robert Rettinghaus, Sr., known to all as either Red or Bob, of St. Clair, MO; by her sons, Robert Rettinghaus, Jr., known to all as Rob, of St. Clair and Jason Rettinghaus and wife, Adrianne, of Wentzville, MO; by her daughter, Teresa Glaser, known to all as Teri, and husband, Brad, of New Haven, MO; by her brothers, Rev. Charles M. Fisher, Jr., known to all as Butch, of Lebanon, MO, and John Fisher and wife, Paula, of Willard, MO; by her sisters, Linda Eidson and husband, Paul, of Lebanon, MO, Sherry Shamel and husband, Bill, of Lebanon and Susie Williams and husband, Rick, of Lebanon; by eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Toyea was preceded in death by her parents, Charles, Sr. and Catherine Fisher; and by one grandchild, Hailey Rettinghaus.

Toyea was a Christian and had enjoyed attending Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. She had furthered her education by attaining her Associates Degree in Accounting. During her working career she was employed by Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO, for sixteen years, as an administrative assistant. Toyea was a talented seamstress that loved to sew and do crochet. Piecing quilts was her passion and the quilts she made for all the children and grandchildren will now be cherished family heirlooms. She especially enjoyed having the family gather together for Sunday dinner every week. The love they shared and many precious memories they created together will live on in their hearts forever.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM Friday, December 28, 2018 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO with Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park in St. Clair. Memorials may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital.
