Cordell John Bruns, known to all as Bucky, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Belleville, IL, on October 24, 2018, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, two months and twelve days. Bucky was born in St. Louis, MO, on August 12, 1939, son of William Arthur Bruns, I and Elizabeth Louise Bruns nee Cordell. On December 5, 1970, he was united in marriage to Edna Jane Smith, known to most as Jane, and two children came to bless this union.

Bucky is survived by his wife, Jane Bruns of Sullivan, MO; by his son, Joseph Bruns of St. Clair, MO; by his daughter, Faith Reeves and husband, Greg, of Jonesboro, AR; by one grandchild, Andis Reeves of Jonesboro; by one brother, William A. Bruns, II, known to all as Bill, and wife, Ethel, of St. Clair; by his sister, Mary Moore Vieten and husband, Noel, of Leslie, MO; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Bucky was preceded in death by his parents, William, I and Elizabeth Bruns, and by one brother, Joseph H. Bruns.

Bucky was a Christian and life long member of Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. As a young man he was proud to have served his country in the Army National Guard for several years. After graduating from high school, he attended college for about two years, studying theology. He was proud to have obtained his minister's license and enjoyed filling in at various churches when needed. During his working career he was employed at the St. Clair MFA for a few years. He then went on to work for the Franklin County Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator, retiring after twenty-five years of service. He was also a proud member of Easter Lodge 575 AF & AM in St. Clair, MO. Bucky enjoyed cattle and hay farming as a young man with his father and for a short time as an adult. He was a St. Clair Bulldog sports enthusiast, attending most all the games whether varsity or junior varsity, and had even won a Fan Appreciation Award for his loyalty. Bucky was an outgoing and friendly man who always had a piece of candy in his pocket for the kids. What meant most to him was time spent with his family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all. A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation was held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, October 29, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair ,MO, with Masonic services at 7:00 PM. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO, with the Rev. Ben Kingston officiating, assisted by the Rev. Brad Banderman. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church or Easter Lodge 575 Scholarship Fund.
