OBITUARY

Charles Neil Hinson, known to most as Neil, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO, on September 22, 2018, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, seven months and one day. Neil was born on February 21, 1939, son of Floyd Augustus Hinson and Ethel Lorena Hinson nee Palmer. On November 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Lola Iolea Johnson and four children came to bless this union.

Neil is survived by his wife, Lola Hinson of St. Clair, MO; by his son, Brett Hinson and wife, Betty, of St. Clair; by his daughters, Faith Marler and companion, Tom Mayer, of Sullivan, MO, Tina Oermann and husband, Alan, of Lonedell, MO, and Dana Wall and husband, Dan, of Sullivan; by his mother-in-law, Vesta Johnson of Kirkwood, MO; by one brother, Robert Hinson and wife, Loretta, of St. Clair; by his sister, Betty Mae Davis of St. Clair; by his foster brothers, Howard Sanders and wife, Jean, of Sebring, FL, and John Briscoe of New Haven, MO; by one sister-in-law, Lois Amburn and husband, Floyd, of Raymondville, MO; by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ethel Hinson, and by six brothers, Donald, Bernard, Kenneth, Fred, Connie and Floyd Hinson, known to all as Junior.

Neil was a Christian of the Baptist faith and a member of The Ridge Church in Sullivan, MO. During his working career he was employed for fifteen years as a supervisor for Petrolane Gas Company in the Sullivan, MO and Gray Summit, MO plants. In later years he worked as a supervisor for about twelve years for Wrights Tree Trimming Company in the St. Clair and Gray Summit areas. He was also a member and retiree of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2 of St. Louis, MO. Neil was a past member of The St. Clair Saddle Club, past member and volunteer of the St. Clair Ambulance Association and a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved to go fishing, especially gigging. Hunting for turkey and coon hunting were other favorite hobbies. Listening to gospel music was another of his pleasures. What he enjoyed most was time spent with his family. His children and grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, as he did in their hearts.

A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Dick Hinson officiating. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Dudley officiating. Memorials may be made to Shriners' Hospital for Children, St. Louis, MO.
