Velma Delores Papin of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Town & Country, MO, on September 11, 2018, having reached the age of sixty-nine years, seven months and ten days. Velma was born in Booneville, MO on February 1, 1949, daughter of Norman Francis Richey and Cecilia Frances Richey nee Fahrendorf. On June 28, 1969, she was united in marriage to Charles Gary Papin and two children came to bless this union.

Velma is survived by her husband, C. Gary Papin, I of St. Clair, MO; by her son, Charles Gary Papin, II, known to all as Charlie, and wife, Sarah, of St. Clair; by her daughter, Nikki DeMaris and husband, Glenn, of St. Clair; by her three grandchildren, Cecelia DeMaris, Charles MacKenzie Papin, known to all as Mac, and Otis Grove, all of St. Clair; by two brothers, Bill Richey and wife, Glenda, of Booneville, MO and Steve Richey and wife, Judy, of Columbia, MO; by two sisters, Norma Webster and husband, Wayne, and Carolyn Peters, all of Booneville; by brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Cecilia Richey, and by three brothers, Larry Richey, Eddie Richey and Wallie Richey.

Velma was a Christian of the Catholic faith and long time member of St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO. She was a member and Past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella, St. Clair Circle 1082. During her working career she was the apartment manager and book keeper for Greater St. Clair Homes. She was a talented seamstress that enjoyed sewing and piecing quilts and many of her quilts will be cherished family heirlooms. Velma also enjoyed oil painting and cooking for the family. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, as she did in their hearts.

A loving and devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held on Sunday, September 16, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with rosary services at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass was held at 10:00 AM Monday, September 17, 2018 at St. Clare Catholic Church in St. Clair, MO with Father Eric Kunz officiating. Interment was in St. Clare Catholic Cemetery in St. Clair. In lieu of flowers masses are preferred.
