OBITUARY

Stephen Henry George, Jr., known to all as Steve, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on August 24, 2018, having reached the age of seventy-one years, eight months and nine days. Steve was born in Washington on December 15, 1946, son of Stephen Henry George, Sr. and Pearl Eugene George nee Hansel, known to all as Tommy. On August 1, 1970, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Kay Bailey and three children came to bless this union.

Steve is survived by his sons, Stephen Lee George and wife, Melinda, of Grubville, MO and Timothy Eugene George and wife, Carrie, of Sullivan, MO; by his daughter Candas George and companion, Austin, of St. Clair, MO; by his grandchildren, Stephen H. and Kate George of Grubville and Delaney and Nina George of Sullivan; by his sibling-in-laws, Gary Bailey and Karen Queen both of St. Clair; by one sister, Pamela Jo Beckham and husband, Joe, of Copperas Cove, TX; by two aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen, Sr. and Pearl George; by his wife, Charlotte George, and by one sister, Michele George.

Steve was a Christian and member of The Ridge Church in Villa Ridge, MO. He was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, entering on February 4, 1966 and receiving his honorable discharge on February 3, 1969. Steve was a member and retiree of the United Association Union of Plumbers, Fitters, Welders and Service Techs, having worked out of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 562 of St. Louis, MO. He had worked in commercial construction for about thirty five years. Steve loved to spend time outdoors and fishing, hunting and bow hunting were favorite hobbies. In recent years Steve enjoyed dancing with various dance groups. He was a sports enthusiast and rarely missed one of his grandchildren's ball games at school, regardless of which sport they played. He was a member of the St. Clair Alumni Association and continued to support the teams after his grandchildren graduated. He was a very giving man and donated to food pantries and charitable organizations on a regular basis. The precious memories created with his family will be cherished by them all forever.

A kind and loving father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Jay Tilson officiating. Interment with full military honors was in Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the St. Clair High School Alumni Association.
