Obituary
OBITUARY

Christean Esther Magdalene Bowers of Robertsville, MO, departed this life at her home and joined her Lord and Savior on July 17, 2018, having reached the age of eighty-three years, three months and three days. Christean was born on April 14, 1935, daughter of Howard Floyd Bland and Teana Odessa Bland nee Generally. As a young woman she was united in marriage to Carl Eugene Bowers and three children came to bless this union.

Christean is survived by her children, Carl E. Bowers, Jr. and wife, Patricia, Pamela Campbell and Keith Bowers, all of Robertsville, MO; by one sister Myrna Wallace of Robertsville; by nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Christean was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Teana Bland; by her former husband, Carl E. Bowers, Sr.; by her daughter-in-law, Kathi Bowers; by her son-in-law, George Campbell; by her sister, Patricia Wallace, and by her step-grandson, Kenneth Campbell.

Christean was a devoted Christian and member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Villa Ridge, MO, where she was President of the Mother's Board. She had worked outside the home most of her life. As a young woman, she worked for about five years as a nurses' aide at Christian Hospital in St. Louis, MO. For most of her working career she was employed as a collections analyst for Sears Corporation, retiring after twenty-seven years of service to the company. Christean was an outdoors woman at heart, as her passion was working in her yard, raising beautiful flowers and collecting interesting rocks. She also enjoyed making birdhouses for her yard. She was proud of the produce she raised in her garden and worked very hard canning and preserving. She was a great cook and her family always boasted about her homemade rolls. Christean was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making dresses for her family. Her family was her pride and joy and nothing made her happier than the time and love they shared.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Clifford McDaniel officiating. Entombment was in the Haven of Rest Mausoleum at Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO.
