Kenneth Loyd Whittington, known to all as Kenny, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at his home on May26, 2018, having reached the age of eighty-five years, seven months ant twenty-two days. Kenny was born in Carbondale, IL, on October 4, 1932, son of Kenneth Guy Whittington and Mabel Whittington nee Brooks. On August 30, 1952, he was united in marriage to Jo Ruth Green and one son came to bless this union.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Jo Whittington of St. Clair, MO; by his daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Whittington of Belleville, IL; by one granddaughter, Lisa Whittington-Devoy and husband, Robert Tynan, III, known to all as Tynan, of Berthoud, CO; by one brother, Sidney Whittington and wife, Delores, of Cape Girardeau, MO; by two sisters, Nancy Peters and husband, Jim, of Nashville, IN, and Sherrie Royer and husband, Ronald of Belleville; by his siblings-in-law, Faye Buerk of Wood River, IL, Jim Green and wife, Sue, of Maryville, IL and Dennis Green and life companion, Vickie, of East Crondelet, IL; by many nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth G. and Mabel Whittington; by his son, Kenneth Mark Whittington, known to all as Mark, and by one sister, Janet McCowan.

Kenny was a Christian and long time member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Clair, MO. He was proud to have served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army, entering February 13, 1953 and receiving his honorable discharge in February 2, 1955. He was a member of American Legion Post 347 of St. Clair, MO. He was also a member and Past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge 2651 in St. Clair. Kenny was a mail carrier by trade and had worked in East St. Louis, IL, retiring after over thirty years of employment. Since his retirement, Kenny's favorite pastime was fishing, especially on Lake St. Clair. He was a people person and truly enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends and many wonderful memories were created.

A devoted and loving husband, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Pastor John Rhoads officiating. Interment with full military honors was held at Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the Elk's Lodge 2651 Scholarship Fund, St. Clair, MO.
