OBITUARY

Violet May Hawkins, known to all as Vi, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on April 23, 2018, having reached the age of eighty years and fourteen days. Vi was born in St. Clair, MO, on April 9, 1938, daughter of Jacob Leslie Sibole and Lucille Irene Sibole nee McKean. On August 3, 1957, she was united in marriage to Harold Raymond Hawkins and four children came to bless this union.

Vi is survived by her husband, Harold Hawkins of St. Clair, MO; by two sons, Brad Hawkins and wife, Kim, of St. Clair and Andrew Hawkins and wife, Jennifer, of St. Clair; by two daughters, Sherryl Craig and husband, Steve, of Portage Des Sioux, MO and Kelly Ahart and husband, Gail, of St. Clair; by eight grandchildren, Clifford Cartwright of St. Clair, Matt Blankenship and wife, Becky, of St. Clair, Stacy Brand and fiancÚ, David Gudermuth, of St. Clair, Chad Blankenship and wife, Krissy, of Lonedell, Megan Girardier of St. Clair, Shelby Ahart of Union, MO and Jacob and Joshua Hawkins of St. Clair; by two brothers, Allen Sibole and wife, Sharon, of Pueblo, CO and Thomas Sibole of Banning, CA; by four sisters, Irene Wyatt of Frankfort, KY, Helen Simmons, Cynthia Maples and Susan Sibole all of Banning, CA; by thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Lucille Sibole; by one brother, Walter Sibole, and by three sisters, Rosemary Jones, Dorann Tyree Crabtree, known to all as Dodie, and an infant sister.

Vi was a Christian of the Baptist faith, believing in the Lord as her Savior. She lived in St. Clair throughout her life and for thirty years, she and her husband owned and managed the Ranch House Shell Station in St. Clair, MO. Vi enjoyed many hobbies and interests, but especially liked gardening and working in her yard. She loved caring for and decorating her home and always enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She was an avid reader and had enjoyed making ceramics and refinishing furniture. Vi was all about her family and she was happiest when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her sister, Irene, had also held a very special place in her heart.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Ben Kingston officiating. Interment was in Prospect Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
