OBITUARY

Virgie Virginia Schofield of Florissant, MO, departed this life in Maryland Heights on April 15, 2018, having reached the age of ninety-three years, six months and seven days. Virgie was born in Lonedell, MO, on October 8, 1924, daughter of Isaac Hensley and Jennie Hensley nee Huff. On September 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to Horace Patrick Schofield, known to all as Pat, and two sons came to bless this union.

Virgie is survived by her sons, Michael Schofield and wife, Rebecca, of Overland, MO, and Jerry Schofield and wife, Linda, of Bland, MO; by four grandchildren, Courtney Schofield and boyfriend, Joey Gibson, of Overland, MO, Jennifer Tripp and husband, Shane, of Concord, MO, Wayne Schofield and wife, Dana, of Bland and Susannna Lowe and husband, Jeff, of Bland, as well as being a grandmother to many foster chidlren; by her very good life-long friend, Judy Webster of Valley Park, MO; by five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Virgie was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Jennie Hensley; by her husband, Pat Schofield; by her brothers, Raymond Hensley and infant boy Hensley; by her sisters, Piney Britton and Delma Davis and by one great-grandchild, Kristen Schofield.

Virgie was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she was employed as an inspector at the ammunitions plant during the Vietnam War. In later years she worked as a tax investigator for the Internal Revenue Service. She was a very active person with a variety of interests. Virgie loved to drive, travel and watch and feed birds. She also enjoyed oil painting, quilting and playing the organ. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren, especially Courtney, held a very special place in her heart. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will never be forgotten.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, great, great-great, and great-great-great-aunt, cousin and dear friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Paul Faulkner officiating. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery in Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
