Elvera E. Linhorst of Luebbering, MO, departed this life in Washington, MO, on March 12, 2018, having reached the age of eighty-nine years, nine months and twenty-two days. Elvera was born in Antonia, MO, on May 20, 1928, daughter of Edward Kassel and Emma Kassel nee Nensel. On June 5, 1949, she was united in marriage to Arthur Richard Linhorst, known to all as Art, and three children came to bless this union.

Elvera is survived by her daughter, Anita Wiese and husband, Ted, of Houston, TX; by her son-in-law, Dale Kleinheider of Union, MO; by her grandchildren, Melissa Graham and husband, Mike, of Owensville, MO, Daniel Kleinheider and wife, Holly, of Belle, MO, Rebecca DeAguiar and husband, Jon, of South Easton, MA, Joshua Linhorst of Brockton, MA, Christopher Wiese of Houston and Catherine Wiese of Portland, OR; by her sister-in-law, Esther Lindwedel and husband, Henry, of Pevely, MO; by seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Elvera was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma Kassel; by her husband, Art Linhorst; by her son, Paul Linhorst; by her daughter, Jan Kleinheider, and by four sisters, Emma Saeger, Elsie Duering, Edna Meyers and Esther Roth.

Elvera was a Christian and faithful member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Eureka, MO. She was a true servant of the Lord and encouraged her family to remain forever faithful. She had served as a church organist at each church she attended over the years and collectively had been a church organist for about thirty years. She made caring for her home and family her primary job in life. When her children were in grade school, she had worked as a cook where they attended school at Lonedell R-14 School, working there for five years. She was also an active member of the school's PTA. Elvera was also a member of the Franklin County Extension Club. She was a talented seamstress and loved sewing and making clothes for her girls. Quilting, doing embroidery and doing needlepoint canvas were other pastimes she enjoyed. Elvera loved working her yard and garden and often preserved her produce. What meant most to her was time spent with her family and each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will never be forgotten.

A loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 16, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Darwin Karsten officiating. Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Eureka, MO.
