OBITUARY

Rita Lee McGuire of Sullivan, MO, departed this life in St. Louis, MO, on January 14, 2018, having reached the age of seventy-one years, five months and seventeen days. Rita was born in Columbus, GA, on August 28, 1946, daughter of Joseph Michael Stutts and Charlotte Margaret Stutts nee Baines. As a young woman she was united in marriage and blessed to have three children. In 1990 she was united in marriage to Michael McGuire. In 2012 she began sharing her life with Clarence Jones.

Rita is survived by her fiancé, Clarence Jones of Sullivan, MO; by her son, Stephen Tauchert and wife, Karen, of St. Clair, MO; by four grandchildren, Katie Tauchert of Kansas City, MO, Kirk Tauchert of St. Clair, Brenden Murphy of St. Clair and Erica Murphy of Union, MO; by two nieces, Christine Roemer of St. Clair and Kimberly McCubbins of Sullivan; by cousins and many friends.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Charlotte Stutts; by her husband, Michael McGuire, and by her daughters, Stephanie and Stacy Tauchert.

Rita was a Christian, having been raised in the Catholic faith and believing in the Lord as her Savior. During her working career she worked as a collections agent and had worked for various companies in the area. In her younger years she enjoyed going dancing and enjoyed the fellowship of her many friends. Spending time on the beach was her favorite vacation. Other pastimes of Rita's included going fishing and making ceramics. What meant most to her was time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren were truly her pride and joy and she cherished the many wonderful times they shared.

A kind and loving fiancée, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with Father Eric Kunz officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
