OBITUARY

Alan Ray Sohn of Sullivan, MO, departed this life in Town and Country, MO, on January 2, 2018, having reached the age of sixty-nine years, three months and twenty-three days. Alan was born in Fort Meade, MD, on September 9, 1948, son of Henry Monroe Sohn and Dollie Juanita Sohn nee Holt. On July 21, 1978, he was united in marriage to Diane Lynn Fleer and three children came to bless this union.

Alan is survived by his wife, Diane Sohn of Sullivan, MO; by his children, Sherryl Robbins and husband, Kevin, of Hoxie, KS, Sarah Unger and husband, Dustin, of Sullivan and Bryan Sohn of and Brantlee Unger of Sullivan; by two uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dollie Sohn; by his brothers, Richard and Charles Sohn, and by his sister, Linda Bailey.

Alan was a Christian and charter member of Canaan Land Ministries in St. Clair, MO. He was very active in church functions and even assisted in the actual building of the church with Pastor Fern and Carl Hawkins. He was proud to have served his country during the Vietnam War as a Lieutenant Corporal in the United States Marine Corp, entering January 2, 1969, and receiving his honorable discharge on December 15, 1972. During his working years, he achieved his Associates Degree in Auto Mechanics and worked as an auto technician. After a few years, he was self employed, owning and operating his company, Grip'em, which was a company dedicated to electronics and lighting for sound and stage. He loved collecting tools and building things. He also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and watching game shows on television. Alan was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and rarely missed a game. What meant most to him was time spent with his family. His children and grandchildren held a special place in his heart, as he did in their hearts.

A kind and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother-in-law, nephew, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
