Sara Elizabeth Gratzer, known to all as Sally, departed this life in Creve Coeur, MO, on December 12, 2017, having reached the age of fifty-seven years, seven months and six days. Sally was born in St. Louis, MO, on May 6, 1960, daughter of William E. Burns and Evelyn Jane Burns nee Jacobs. On June 6, 1980, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Bernard Robert Gratzer, Jr., known to all as Bob, and four children came to bless this union.

Sally is survived by her husband, Bob Gratzer of St. Clair, MO; by her son, Bernard R. Gratzer, III, known to all as Robbie, and wife, Sara, of St. Clair; by three daughters, twin Beth Smith and husband, Chris, of Eureka, MO, twin Becky Lowder and husband, Vince, of St. Clair and Kristin Wheeler and husband, Clint, of St. Clair; by ten grandchildren, Colin, Griffin and Evelyn Smith of Eureka; Madison, Mackenzie, Olivia and Adelyn Lowder of St. Clair; Elyse and Evan Wheeler of St. Clair and Barrett Gratzer of St. Clair; by one brother, Steve Burns and wife, Juliet, of Hernando, FL; by two sisters, Barbara Jarrett and husband, Darrell, of Granite City, IL and Linda Aubuchon and husband, Frank of Oakhurst, TX; by aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Sally was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Burns, and by two brothers, William Burns and Robert Burns.

Sally was a Christian and lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of St. Clair, MO. She was a very active member of the church and had chaired the Mission Committee, as well as serving on the church council. She was also Sunday School Director for many years and was also involved in Vacation Bible School. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. Sally was a local business woman, having started the Fee Fi Fo Fun day care center in St. Clair in about 1991. After seventeen years she sold her interests in the business. Never one to be idle, she had worked for the St. Clair R-XIII School district for the past ten years as a bus monitor. Sally's family was always her first priority and she never missed attending sporting events of her children and now those of her grandchildren. She was a talented person and enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting and knitting. Sally was an avid reader and liked playing cards with their friends. What meant most to her was time spent with her family.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, niece, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation was held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 17, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in St. Clair, MO with the Rev. John Hampton, Jr. officiating. A private committal will take place at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Clair United Methodist Church in St. Clair.
