Dorothy Marie Diesel Cage of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Sullivan, MO, on December 1, 2017, having reached the age of eighty-nine years, eleven months and twenty-six days. Dorothy was born in Elgin, NE, on December 5, 1927, daughter of Joseph Anton Kirstine and Elizabeth Josephine Kirstine nee Borgmeyer. On August 31, 1943, she was united in marriage to Elmer R. Diesel and seven children came to bless this union. On May 18, 1968, she was united in marriage to Ralph J. Cage, Sr. and they were blessed to have thirty-one years together.

Dorothy is survived by three sons, Danny Diesel and wife, Judy, of St. Clair, MO, David Diesel of Albuquerque, NM, and Dennis Diesel of Sullivan, MO; by one daughter Dianna Simmerly of St. Clair; by two step-daughters, Janet Elling and Sharon Cage, both of Hillsboro, MO; by her special friend and companion, Leroy Jarmon of St. Clair; by one sister, Marleen Stanz of Mesa, AZ; by twenty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great, great-great and great-great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Kirstine; by her husband, Elmer on November 20, 1966; by her husband, Ralph on April 28, 1999; by two sons, Douglas and Donald Diesel; by one daughter, Donna Wilson; by one step-son, Ralph Cage Jr., known to all as Buster, and by one sister, Shirley Kirstine.

Dorothy was a Christian and member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Luebbering, MO. For over twenty years, she was employed at KSH Inc. in High Ridge, MO. She was an outgoing and active lady that stayed busy throughout her life. She was a great cook and a talented seamstress. She enjoyed raising beautiful plants, both outdoors and indoors. Trout fishing was a favorite hobby and she always caught her limit. Listening to music at The Home Folks was another of her pastimes, as was doing ceramics. In recent years, she enjoyed collecting dolls and sewing outfits for them. Dorothy loved dogs and enjoyed the companionship of her little Shih Tzu immensely. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren and great and great-great-grandchildren.

A devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, step-mother, special friend, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great, great-great and great-great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 4, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Jeff Scott officiating. Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, Union, MO.
