OBITUARY

Margaret Darlene Reed of St. Clair, MO, departed this life at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on November 29, 2017, having reached the age of seventy-eight years, one month and nine days. Margaret was born in Sullivan, MO, on October 20, 1939, daughter of George Cecil Love, Sr. and Velma Maggie Love nee Shadrick. On September 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, John Edward Reed, and four children came to bless this union.

Margaret is survived by her husband, John Reed of St. Clair, MO; by three daughters, Sheila Reichle and husband, Mark, of Wildwood, MO, Shelly Young of St. Clair and Sheri Gardner and husband, Cliff, of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands; by three grandchildren, Andrea and Alex Reichle of Wildwood and Brody Young and wife, Alexandria, of St. Clair; by two great-grandchildren, Cali and Cason Young of St. Clair; by four brothers, George Cecil Love Jr., known to all as Cecil, and wife, Karen, of St. Clair, Eddie Love and wife, Peggy, Jackie Love and wife, Laura, and Boyd Love and girlfriend, Sandy, all of Sullivan, MO; by five sisters, Irene Wall and husband, Jim, of St. Clair, Dorothy Cates, known to all as Dottie, of St. Clair, Sharon Liggett and husband, Joe, of Marshall, MO, Vera Quade and husband, Butch, of St. Clair and Lisa Mann and husband, Steve, of Sullivan; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, George, Sr. and Velma Love; by her infant twin son, Kelly John Reed, and by one sister, Betty Jennings.

Margaret was a Christian and past member of New Hope Baptist Church, Sullivan, MO. Margaret was a talented seamstress and outgoing person and for over forty years, she owned and operated Margaret's Upholstery in St. Clair, MO. There wasn't anything she couldn't upholster and has done many cars, planes and all types of furniture. She enjoyed all types of crafts and doing oil painting and was very creative. Painting rocks was a recent pastime, turning them into decorative yard ornaments. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and going on rides in John's restored cars. She was also a past member of the Red Hat Society. Nothing made Margaret happier than spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren, as she loved each of them dearly. She was a kind, caring and generous person who would willingly lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. John Pursley officiating. Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union, MO. Memorials may be made to New Chapel Hill Cemetery, Sullivan, MO.
