Bobby Gene Read, known to most as Bob, departed this life in Washington, MO, on November 10, 2017, having reached the age of eighty-two years, six months and twenty-eight days. Bob was born in Greenfield, MO, on April 13, 1935, son of William Joseph Read and Beatrice Read nee Dimmett. On October 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Frances Henderson and four children came to bless this union.

Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy Read of St. Clair, MO; by one son, Stephen Read and wife, Betsy, of St. Clair; by his daughters, Cindy Piontek and husband, Robbie, of St. Clair and Karen Rinne and husband, Kelly, of Union, MO; by six grandchildren, Ryan Read and wife, Stephanie, of Hillsboro, MO, Jeff Read and wife, Erin, of St. Clair, Ashley Varner and husband, Derk, of St. Clair, Taylor Piontek of Nashville, TN and Olivia and Emma Rinne, both of Union; by four great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beatrice Read; by one son, Timothy A. Read; by his brother, William Read, and by his sisters, Lucille Rantz and Geraldine Smith.

Bob was a Christian and faithful long time active member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO. He was a retiree of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1596 of St. Louis, MO. Bob could fix anything and for about twenty-years he worked as the maintenance coordinator for Six Flags in Eureka, MO. Since his retirement he enjoyed tinkering in his shop and loved to put things back together. He was truly a family man at heart and nothing was more important to him than caring for his home and family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially relaxing on the patio with Dorothy. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many wonderful memories have been created.

A devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in St. Clair, MO with the Rev. John Dover officiating. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery, Lonedell, MO. Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, St. Clair, MO.
