Bobby Joe Wideman, known to most as Bob, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in Town & Country, MO, on November 10, 2017, having reached the age of seventy-nine years, five months and nine days. Bob was born in St. Clair on May 21, 1938, son of Ralph Edward Wideman and Estella Marie Wideman nee Busse. On March 28, 1958, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Carole Van Leer and three children came to bless this union.

Bob is survived by his wife, Phyllis Wideman of St. Clair, MO; by his sons, Timothy Wideman and wife, Jody, and Thomas Wideman and wife, Erma, both of St. Clair; by his daughter, Tammy Alsop and husband, Jim, of St. Clair; by his sister, Carlos Pierce and husband, Don, of St. Clair; by his brother, James Wideman and wife, Sharon, of Union,MO; by seven grandchildren, Douglas Wideman and wife, Sherry, of Washington, MO, David Wideman and wife, Katie, of St. Clair, Brad Wideman and wife, Melody, of Sullivan, MO, Brian Wideman of St. Louis, MO, Emily Dake and husband, Brad, of Cuba, MO, Sgt. Drew Alsop of St. Clair and Ryan Alsop and girlfriend, Tiffany Shadrick, of St. Clair; by four great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Estella Wideman, and by his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Wideman.

Bob was a Christian and long time member of St. John United Church of Christ in St. Clair, MO. During his working career he owned and managed Ferrell Gas Company in St. Clair, MO. He was an experienced heating and cooling technician. Bob was proud to have served his country in the United States Army National Guard, retiring after twenty-seven years of service to the company. He was a member of Easter Lodge 575 AF & AM and the Order of Eastern Star, St. Clair Chapter 96 in St. Clair, as well as the Kiwanis Club. Bob was a founding member of the Route 66 Car Club, having a passion for old cars. He loved his 1952 Chevy and over time had owned and restored several others. What meant most to him was time spent with his family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever live in their hearts.

A devoted and loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great and great-great-uncle, cousin, and treasured friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. Laura Mignerone officiating. Interment with full military honors was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ, St. Clair, MO.
