Patsy Caroline Lemons, known to all as Pat, of St. Clair, MO, departed this life in St. Clair on August 23, 2017, having reached the age of ninety-one years, six months and twenty-nine days. Pat was born in Union, MO, on January 24, 1926, daughter of Thomas Moore Hoff and Lela Geraldine Hoff nee Fansler. On October 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Billy Leon Lemons, known to all as Bill, and three children came to bless this union.
Pat is survived by her sons, W. Thomas Lemons, DDS and wife, Judy, of Palmyra, MO, and Richard Lemons, RPh, known to most as Rick, and wife, Claudia, of Washington, MO; by her daughter, Nancy Gossett and husband, Danny, of St. Clair, MO; by four grandchildren, Brandon Lemons and wife, Shelly, of Port Washington, WI, Adrienne Lynn and husband, Chris, of Palmyra, Billy Gossett and wife, Kristin, of St. Peters, MO and Nicole Barlow and husband, Dan, of St. Clair; by seven great-grandchildren, Mikias and Tehila Lemons, Aiden and Alexis Lynn, Maggie and Hannah Gossett and Spencer Heck; by her sister, Betty Hobelmann of Troy, MO; by nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lela Hoff, and by her husband, Bill Lemons.
Pat was a Christian and lifelong member of St. Clair United Methodist Church in St. Clair, MO. During her working career she was a co-owner of Gambles Hardware in St. Clair from 1971 to 1981 and City Collector for the City of St. Clair for ten years, from 1981 to 1991. Pat was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, St. Clair Chapter #96, as well as a member of the Red Hat Society. Her social nature led her to be active in city functions. She was an outgoing lady and loved dancing, especially swing dancing, and playing cards, primarily Bridge. Pat volunteered as a tutor at the grade school and went to all the grandchildren's sporting events, earning the name "Grandma Pat". The love she shared and many precious memories created with family and friends will live in their hearts forever.
A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great and great-great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 PM Monday, August 28, 2017, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair, MO, with the Rev. John Hampton, Jr. officiating. Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens in Union, MO. Memorials may be made to the Order of Eastern Star, St. Clair Chapter #96 or the St. Clair United Methodist Church.
