Jerry Staley Grossgloss of Lonedell, MO, departed this life in Lonedell on July 30, 2017, having reached the age of sixty-six years, two months and twenty-eight days. Jerry was born in St. Louis, MO, on May 2, 1951, son of Lew Grossgloss and Rose Isabella Grossgloss nee Schaab. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have two daughters.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Carrie Grossgloss of St. Louis, MO and Kelly Grossgloss of Lonedell, MO; by his granddaughters, Riley Rose Grossgloss and Maggie Mae Dykhuizen of Lonedell; by one sister, Pal Leacock of St. Louis, MO; by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Lew and Rose Grossgloss.
Jerry was a Christian, believing in the Lord as his Savior. In recent years, he enjoyed attending Bethel Baptist Church in Lonedell, MO. Jerry was a carpenter by trade and had been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 1839 in St. Louis, MO, since he was a young man. Throughout his working years, Jerry had worked for various companies through the Union hall. Jerry liked rural living and in earlier years had enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed the companionship of pet cats and dogs. Nothing made Jerry happier than the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, for they were truly his pride and joy.
A devoted and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
A private celebration of life and committal will be held at a later date. The family entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, MO. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society.
